WIP Textiles

There has been a ‘dabbling’ in textile work for some time. Without precision or pattern. A learning edge. A janky form. No patience for meticulousness, as that isn’t the drive. The exploratory expression rides louder the urge to craft well.

Following the Supreme Court ruling in the UK in April 2025, I decided I wanted to make a cape for myself and fellow Trans people. As protection and proclamation. Inspired by the breadth and depth of the history and current practice of protest banners and solidarity quilts. Soft acts of raising voices and awareness.

Working with found textiles gathered from the laundry cupboard and charity shops, a number of text quilt and banner pieces are now in process.
